As a child do you remember yourself putting on make-up or looking at your mother do so and if you always wanted to become a make-up artist? As a child, I used to look up at my aunt who was a beauty stylist too. I didn’t use to spend that much time with my mom. And it wasn’t me the one wearing my grandma’s make-up. My whole life I’ve been surrounded by cats, so I started doing make-up to my cats when I was about 6 years old since I don’t have siblings, cats were my only company, and I didn’t realize I was so into make-up until maybe 15 years ago. What is creativity for you as a make-up artist?Creativity for me is just letting yourself use different tools, saying aloud what you want to say without words. How difficult is it to be a make-up artist in Ecuador? It’s difficult because even though there are a lot of talented people who would love to work professionally in the fashion industry, there are not enough tools for us to make it and our work is underrated. High-Quality Education is also rare, that’s why most of us go overseas to stay updated. As a make-up artist is difficult for me to even find products, big brands don’t come to Ecuador. What famous make-up artists have influenced you and how?I have some names in my mind, but I’ve always looked up to Val Garland, Danessa Myricks, Luis Casco, and Nikki Wolff, I think I love how they perform their make-up looks, they’re glamorous and fun. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?I love wine! So, my description of joy in my spare time is taking a glass of wine while reading or talking and laughing with friends, I also look for inspiration everywhere. Spending time with my family and cats. I also love to travel.Explain the process for choosing make-up based on lighting conditions?First of all, we have to create our mood-board with our creative team, second, I have to know who my model will be, and based on both: the mood-board and the model I will choose the make-up products and the make-up style. I’ll be doing (a make-up sketch), we need to know how much light and what kind of light the photographer will be using for the shooting, because the amount of make-up and also its colors may change depending on the light.Tell me about three make-up trends you’re a fan of?I’m absolutely in love with glowing skin, everything that is shimmery. I like, I’ve always loved catliner and the last blushy make-up.What is the most important beauty advice that you can give to both men and women? It’s all about good skincare, sun protection, exercise, and balanced diet, having good habits in general. The more you take care of yourself the healthier and younger you and your skin will look and also your makeup will look awesome. Don’t forget to visit your doctor and dermatologist regularly.Do you believe that Social Media create makeup trends?Nowadays, it’s all about going viral. Make-up techniques and makeup trends can be created by anyone, not only professional make-up artists.10.Quick and easy steps to look glamorous?Skin routine before make-up, medium-weight luminous foundation, eyeliner, mascara, lashes, red lips, and blushy cheeks, highlighter is optional.
